In view of the rapidly developing situation in respect of Coronavirus in the UK, the NAFD has today (3 March 2020) released its new Pandemic Planning Guide to all funeral firms in the UK, irrespective of trade association membership.
The new guide for NAFD members, written by NAFD Past President Alison Crake of Crake and Mallon Funeral Service on Teesside, has been updated to include information about COVID-19 and is published together with a suite of adaptable template documents and other useful resources.
The NAFD would like to thank Alison for the extensive work she has undertaken in researching and writing this guide. We hope funeral firms find it valuable in helping them to assess the potential impact of a widespread outbreak of Coronavirus (or any other pandemic) on their organisations and putting the appropriate preparations in place.
It is important to stress that, at present, the guidance remains to operate funeral homes as normal, paying close attention to government and HSE advice on infection control and the use of Personal Protective Equipment, cleaning routines and good hygiene practices amongst employees. The NAFD will release updated information and guidance via its website and social media channels as it is received.
