Face coverings to be mandatory for all indoor funeral services in England
Yesterday afternoon (3 August) at a meeting of the Deceased Management Advisory Group, the Government clarified that the guidance change for face coverings is intended to cover all indoor funeral services, as well as visits to funeral homes – and it will update the language in the guidance to make this clearer.
Public Health England will also provide guidance on the sensitive issue of mourning – as it was raised with them, during the meeting, how difficult it may be for those who are grieving to wear a face covering, for example if crying.
The change will be mandatory from 8 August but is recommended immediately. You can read the Government’s information about face coverings here.
